About Period Cook-Along with Victoria
We are planning a regimental virtual mess cook-along and social! A historical messing with you extravaganza!
Victoria Alexandra of the 41st will lead you by creating a platoon ration-inspired meal available to us on a campaign here in Upper Canada.
She is a librarian with the Toronto Public librarian, working at Black Creek Pioneer Village and Gibson House with plenty of experience over a hearth. Her self-taught knowledge of historic food is remarkable, as well as her personality and love for history.
Sergent Abel Land, will provide insight at what a platoon mess would have consisted of, both in the cookhouse and the barracks room.
Stay tuned for the ingredients are and what the final dishes will be over the lead-up weeks.
Throughout the cook-off, there will be laughs, historical antidotes, and of course, all of us together learning and having fun. If you don’t wish to cook, you are more than welcome to come along and have a laugh at those of us who are!
We will also create a Facebook events page to let us know if you are able attend
And of course, it would not be the 41st event without the post-event PUB call.
