A Different Kind of War!
An Uneasy Life in the Thames Valley
by Glenn Stott
The 41st Regiment of Foot Military Living History Group were pleased to announce the 14th instalment of our War of 1812 Lecture Series.
Glenn Stott discussed the War of 1812 in the London and Western Districts. It was a war that was hard on the general population in terms of war losses and the tribulations they had to endure. With only two measurable battles it was a different kind of war than experienced in the Niagara or Eastern Upper Canada regions and as a result it had unique incidents, effects and personalities.
We were thrilled to feature Glenn. He is wonderfully knowledgeable and passionate about the War of 1812. He is a tremendous communicator as well as being a good friend of the 41st. He is a retired elementary educator; he has a wife and four adult children and four wonderful grandchildren. With a lifelong interest in the War of 1812, he is in the process of getting a book published on the War Losses Claims for the London and Western Districts and also plans on publishing a reprint of his book on the War of 1812 in Southwestern Ontario called Greater Evils.
The talk was held on Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 at the Iron Duke House in Wellington Brewery at 950 Woodlawn Road West, Guelph.
