The 49th and Fitzgibbon

 

The 41st Regiment of Foot Military Living History Group wass pleased to present the seventh instalment in the popular 41st Regiment Lecture Series featuring Craig Williams; artist, historian and re-enactor.

Mr. Williams has often served as a historical consultant for the movie and television industry. He was a founding member of the Canadian Military History Society and as a member of such was involved the first re-enactments at Old Fort Erie and the recreation of the 49th Regiment of Foot. Through his work at Fort York, Craig was instrumental in the organizing of the very first re-enactment at Stoney Creek in 1979.

Craig spoke of the 49th Regiment during the War of 1812 and in particular the famed Lieutenant James FitzGibbon.

The lecture was held at the Iron Duke House at the Wellington Brewery in Guelph, Ontario on Friday, April 25, 2008.

The 41st Regiment of Foot MLHG is a group of individuals who re-create the 41st Regiment, as it was when it served in Canada during the War of 1812. The 41st Regiment of Foot MLHG re-enacts at War of 1812 events, supports historic sites and museums, does educational outreach programs and conducts historical research on an ongoing basis.
